Pick The Perfect Wedding Photographer
Picking your wedding photographer can feel like a daunting task!
After all, this is not a session that you can re-do should you need to! Your wedding day only happens one time and you only get one shot (no pun) to pick the perfect wedding photographer to document it for you!! No Pressure… don’t panic! I have the recipe to make it easier for you.
As I sit with mu clients I try to step into their shoes. I think back to when I was selecting the perfect wedding photographer for my own wedding day.
What did I value? What was I looking for? It was a big decision. I reached out to a well known photographer whom a good friend of mine actually worked for at the time. I loved her work and I trusted my friend and yet I still hedged because I KNOW that once it’s done.. it’s done.
Here are a few tips to make the decision easier.
I thought I’d share a few tips with you on picking the perfect wedding photographer for your big day. I know it may seem that I’m a little biased but if I am being honest, I am not the photographer for every bride to be and they are not the right client for me. (I’m a poet and I just don’t know it).
Three Easy Steps:
1 – You can look at a photograph or you can feel it.
You are hiring someone who specializes in the love language of imagery. They communicate their personal style and point of view through these images of your wedding day. You want to pick the best wedding photographer who’s style resonates with you. If you feel something while perusing the images of their website or Instagram feed, that is a good indication that when you look at your own images you will be guaranteed to love them.
2 – Ask if you can see a full wedding gallery from a previous client.
Each of us have a collection of images that we are so proud and quick to show off. Those are the ones we put up front on our website or feature on our facebook pages. See if you can view an entire wedding gallery from the “getting ready” to the “reception” and everything in between! This will give you a better idea of what to expect and make sure you like how they capture the flow of the day!
3 – Meet them in person!
Schedule an in person consultation. Either go out for coffee or have a FaceTime video chat if you are long distance. You want to get to know their personality. Mostly you want to make sure that you will feel comfortable around them on your wedding day! Are they the perfect wedding photographer for YOU? You can tell a lot about a person just by talking to them and hearing their voice. Make sure they will jive with your family and friends. It sure does make the day feel a whole lot more fun and less stressful.
Also… will they make you laugh?
By following these three easy tips you are bound to find the person who is the best fit to capture your story. You will feel better about your choice and ecstatic with the images from your big day!
